Continental Restyling - October 1996
|
Face it, Jack: if you want to
hang with the cool cats you gotta have the right cut. It's a waste
of time asking the kids at those "schmoe-cuts" joints to do it
right. The cutters at fancy salons sport a disgusted look if
you ask for a DA and they won't touch your head if you are hip enough to
coat your conk with real pomade.
Nope, there's no way around it. If you want a hepcat quiff,
you got to sit in the chair of someone that KNOWS how to pump up a
pompadour, someone that KNOWS what "high & tight" is,
someone that KNOWS how to cut a flattop with fenders, someone that says
"you got it" if you ask for a Mac Curtis.
If you're in Dallas, Texas, that means Rob Vilarreal, owner and Hair
Mechanic of Rob's Chop Shop. This is the place that all the
hepcats tune up their tops. March 2006 marks the eleventh anniversary
of the coolest place to get a haircut in North Texas! |
| When you visit Rob's Chop Shop,
relax in a 1930's barber chair and take in the 50's
memorabilia. Rob keeps jumpin' Rockabilly music goin' all
day. A snip or two, a buzz from the clippers, a touch of talc, a
drop of tonic, a dab of grease and you are set to jet!
While there, pick up the latest issue of Continental Restyling and
don't leave without some of Rob's own Chop Shop
Grease! |

Grease Release Party at Rob's Chop Shop - July 5, 1997 |

 |
Rob's Chop Shop is located
directly across the street from Fair Park and the Cotton Bowl in
Exposition Park at 3613A Parry Avenue. The shop is open
Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 noon to 9:00pm. Walk-in's
are always welcome but call 214-824-ROBS for an appointment if you can.
In addition to a great haircut, while at Rob's you can pick up the
current issue (and some back issues) of Continental Restyling and other
periodicals. In addition to his own Chop Shop Grease, Rob stocks a
variety of hard-to-find hair care products as well as Rock 'n' Roll
Memorabilia and apparel.
If you won't be in Dallas any time soon, look for Rob at
Rockabilly Weekenders around the world. |
 |
Be sure to stop by Rob's to find out about local and touring
bands. Rob's shop sometimes hosts live music (at the Bar of Soap
Next Door) and his bulletin board is a great place to check out what's
happening on the local scene. If you're in a roots rock band, be
sure to get flyers to Robs!
